Printful Setup

Time to plant the flag. Printful is the factory. The account is free, you don't enter a credit card to sign up, and you only pay when an order actually happens. Here's the path from zero to a working account.

Step 1 — Create the account

  1. Go to printful.com and hit "Sign Up."
  2. Use the email you'll use for your brand — not your personal junk address.
  3. Confirm via the email link.
Set up a free Gmail like yourbrand@gmail.com for everything brand-related — Printful, your store, your social accounts. Keeps your real inbox clean.

Step 2 — Tour the dashboard

Once logged in, you'll see these key sections in the sidebar:

Step 3 — Explore the catalog

Click Product Catalog. Filter by category: T-shirts, Hoodies, Hats, Posters, Mugs, Stickers, Phone Cases, Tote Bags. For each product Printful shows you:

Spend 30 minutes here. Click around. Note 5 products that fit your brand. We'll use these in Lesson 05.

Don't try to sell 50 products on day one. Pick 2 or 3 — a t-shirt, a hoodie, maybe a sticker — and master those. More products ≠ more sales. Better designs do.

Step 4 — Brand settings

Go to Settings → Branding. Even on the free plan you can:

This tiny step makes your unboxing feel like a real brand instead of a dropshipped Amazon thing.

Step 5 — Order a sample (eventually)

Printful gives discounted samples (~20% off + free shipping on your first few). Once you have a real design, order one of your own products. Two reasons:

Wait until you have at least one design you actually believe in before ordering a sample. Don't waste your sample on a "test."

Plans & pricing

Printful has a free tier and paid tiers (Printful Growth, Business). For your first 6+ months, the free tier is all you need. The paid plans unlock things like deeper product discounts and embroidery features — relevant once you're doing real volume.
